16‑Year‑Old Shoots Friend Dead With Father’s Dane Gun In Kwara

A 16‑year‑old boy, Emmanuel Danladi, allegedly shot and killed his 15‑year‑old friend, Titus Joseph, with a loaded Dane gun belonging to his father in Kwamba community, Suleja Local Government Area, Niger State. The fatal incident occurred at about 6 p.m. on March 13, 2026, while the two were reportedly playing at Emmanuel’s residence when he picked up the firearm and fired a close‑range shot that struck Titus in the stomach, according to the Niger State Police Command spokesman, Wasiu Abiodun.

The gun belongs to Emmanuel’s father, Danladi Baba (51), a member of a local vigilante group in Suleja. Police officers from the Maje Division responded to the distress report and evacuated the victim’s body to General Hospital, Suleja, where he was pronounced dead. Emmanuel and his father were arrested on suspicion of negligence and culpable homicide.

The firearm has been recovered as evidence and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Minna for further investigation and prosecution, as the police seek to determine the circumstances that led to the tragic loss of a teenage life.
