2027: Atiku Defeats Amaechi, Hayatu-Deen, Emerge ADC Presidential Candidate

African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary results saw Former president Atiku Abubakar emerge as the overall winner of the primary elections held nationwide.

The ongoing collation of results from across the country has placed Atiku in a commanding position after recording wide margins of victory in states already declared, including Kano, Lagos and Kebbi.

Amaechi’s arrival in the Federal Capital Territory on Tuesday heightened political tension within the party as supporters and stakeholders await the official declaration of the party’s presidential candidate.

In a statement released by his camp shortly after he arrived in Abuja, Amaechi was described as optimistic and prepared for the conclusion of the exercise.

The statement praised the ADC for what it called a transparent and democratic process, noting that the party had distinguished itself by conducting nationwide presidential primaries.

Meanwhile, Atiku continued to strengthen his lead with impressive figures from major states.

In Kano State, the former Vice President reportedly secured 155,995 votes, defeating Amaechi, who polled 15,914 votes, while Mohammed Hayatu-Deen received 9,994 votes.

Atiku also emerged victorious in Lagos State after polling 37,779 votes, ahead of Amaechi’s 6,791 votes and Hayatu-Deen’s 2,261 votes.

In Kebbi State, Atiku maintained his dominance with 65,153 votes, while Amaechi secured 5,931 votes and Hayatu-Deen polled 454 votes.

The exercise, however, has not been without controversy, as Hayatu-Deen earlier raised concerns over alleged irregularities in parts of the primary process.

The development has fueled tension within the party, although officials insist that the final announcement will be made after the completion of collation from all participating states.

Political observers say the results declared so far may have already shaped the eventual outcome of the contest.

Hayatu-Deen had earlier announced that he would boycott the official declaration of results, citing dissatisfaction with aspects of the process.
