2027: I Didn’t Buy ADC Form To Be Vice President — Rotimi Amaechi 

Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has dismissed reports suggesting he is seeking a vice-presidential position ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that his political ambition is focused entirely on the presidency.

Amaechi made the clarification during an appearance on the Daily Politics podcast on Trust TV, where he addressed ongoing discussions surrounding the presidential ticket battle within the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Reacting to rumours linking him with a possible vice-presidential role, the former Rivers State governor declared:

“I did not buy form to be vice president. Who are all those saying that?”

Amaechi further stressed that the conversation should remain centred on the presidential contest rather than speculation about a running mate position.

“Idris, the interview is about presidency. I didn’t buy form for vice president. If you want to interview a vice president, I can send them in for you,” he stated.

Speaking on the possibility of a consensus arrangement within the ADC, Amaechi maintained that such a decision could only emerge through collective agreement among party stakeholders.

“If the party wants a consensus, let’s have a meeting. If we agree, we do it. If we don’t, we go primary,” he added.

His remarks come amid growing coalition talks and political realignments among opposition figures ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with debates intensifying over who could eventually emerge as the party’s presidential flagbearer.
