A 27-year-old man has reportedly lost his life following a dispute over ₦200, while an 18-year-old suspect is said to be on the run as police investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to accounts circulating on social media, the victim, identified as Isaac Ayanbolujo, was allegedly attacked after an argument with a teenager, David Gideon, over money reportedly owed from the previous day.
Witnesses claimed the disagreement began when Isaac was playing a game of snooker and was approached by David, who demanded repayment of the debt. The victim reportedly asked for more time, saying he would settle the amount after finishing his game.
What appeared to be a minor disagreement soon escalated into a heated confrontation. According to reports, the suspect allegedly attempted to attack Isaac, while another individual who tried to intervene sustained injuries and fled the scene.
Fearing for his safety, Isaac reportedly sought refuge in a nearby building, where he remained for several minutes. However, witnesses alleged that when he later emerged to return home, he was confronted again and suffered serious injuries during a second attack.
The incident has sparked outrage online, with reports claiming that some bystanders recorded the altercation on their mobile phones rather than offering immediate assistance to the injured man.
Despite his condition, Isaac reportedly managed to make his way home, where his mother rushed him to hospital for treatment. Sadly, he was later pronounced dead, reportedly after losing a significant amount of blood.
The tragedy has left family members, friends and members of the local community in shock, with many expressing disbelief that a dispute over such a small amount of money could allegedly end in the loss of a young life.
The suspect is said to have fled the area and remains at large. Authorities are reportedly investigating the incident, while efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the individual linked to the case.
Police have yet to release an official statement confirming details of the incident.
