30 years Old Interior Decorator Killed at Benin Funeral

A 30-year-old interior decorator, Esohe Aigbe, has tragically lost her life after being attacked during a funeral ceremony in Benin City, Edo State.

Aigbe, described by relatives as kind-hearted and generous, had volunteered her services free of charge as her contribution to the funeral. She reportedly joined a friend to help decorate the venue on Ujo Street in the Ogida area of the state capital.

According to family members, she remained at the venue after completing the decoration work when she was suddenly attacked by unidentified assailants. The brutal assault left her with severe injuries.

She was rushed to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) for emergency treatment but later succumbed to her injuries. Her remains have since been deposited in a mortuary.

The incident has left family members, friends and residents in shock, with loved ones calling on security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

Meanwhile, the Edo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one suspect in connection with the killing.

Speaking to journalists, the command’s spokesperson, CSP Eno Ikoedem, disclosed that preliminary investigations have linked a suspect identified as Faith to the incident.

She said the suspect has been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) at the police headquarters for further investigation.

Ikoedem added that detectives are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding Aigbe’s death and are making efforts to apprehend any other individuals who may have been involved in the crime.

The killing has sparked renewed concerns about public safety, with many residents demanding swift justice for the young decorator whose act of generosity ended in tragedy.
