The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man, Musbawu Amodu, for allegedly beating his 20-year-old wife to death following a domestic dispute at their home in Agyaragu, Obi Local Government Area of the state.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, the suspect was taken into custody after police received a report that he had allegedly assaulted his wife, who later died from the injuries she sustained.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident followed an argument after the woman allegedly declined to prepare a meal, with the disagreement reportedly escalating into violence.

Nansel said the suspect admitted during interrogation that he attacked his wife in a moment of anger.

“The suspect confessed to committing the act out of anger after the deceased allegedly refused to prepare food. An argument ensued, which escalated into a physical altercation that ultimately resulted in her death,” the police spokesperson said.

Police said the couple had been married for six years and were raising two young children—a boy and a girl—who have now been left without their mother.

The Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, CP Shettima Jauro Mohammed, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Lafia for a comprehensive investigation.

He assured members of the public that the command would conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that anyone found culpable faces the full weight of the law.

The tragic incident has once again drawn attention to the devastating consequences of domestic violence and the need for peaceful conflict resolution within families.
