42-Year-Old Farmer Arrested Over Alleged Rape of 12-Year-Old Girl in Ogun

Operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, known as So-Safe Corps, have arrested a 42-year-old farmer, Ganiu Agbajo, over the alleged rape of a 12-year-old girl in Ipokia Local Government Area of the state.

The State Commander of the Corps, Soji Ganzallo, disclosed this in a statement issued through the Director of Information and Public Relations, Adegunwa Adegbuyi, on Thursday.

According to the statement, the Corps received a distress call from residents on September 7 after the girl reportedly raised an alarm while returning home.

The victim’s mother was said to have questioned her after noticing what had happened, prompting her to report the matter to members of the community.

Acting on the report, So-Safe Corps operatives arrested the suspect at his residence in Hassan Compound, Igbokulu, Ita-Egbe, Ipokia.

The statement said the suspect allegedly confessed during preliminary interrogation, claiming that the incident occurred on his farmland at Ojugo, Ita-Egbe.

Ganzallo commended the residents for their prompt response and urged members of the public to report suspected criminal activities to security agencies.

The suspect has been handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution.
