Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has once again stirred public debate after claiming he was set up in the sexual assault case that led to his imprisonment.
The actor made the claim in a recently released song titled “Eniwaye Daran,” which was uploaded to his YouTube channel on Thursday. In the track, he shares his personal account of the events that led to his arrest and eventual conviction.

In the song, Baba Ijesha alleges that the circumstances surrounding the incident were orchestrated by a former colleague.
According to him, he was invited to her residence under the pretext of discussing a movie role and sharing a meal.
“The incident happened on April 21, 2021. Princess She Devil called me and said she was preparing my favourite food — pounded yam, crayfish, and egusi soup with bush meat,” he said in the track.

He further claimed that the invitation was linked to a movie opportunity that had been discussed earlier.

“She had previously mentioned an acting job to me but said she didn’t want me to play my usual role in the movie. She said she wanted me to act as a young guy because she wanted to take me to another level. I didn’t know that the ‘next level’ would be Kirikiri and Panti prison,” he added.

The actor alleged that when he arrived at the residence, he met several people who were introduced to him as members of the movie production team.

He said he was asked to rehearse a scene with a young girl while waiting for the meal he had been promised.

“When I got to her house, I saw some people there. She told me the food was still cooking. While I waited, I began rehearsing according to what the supposed director instructed, not knowing it was all a lie. There was no movie anywhere — it was all a set-up,” he claimed.

According to Baba Ijesha, the situation quickly escalated when a group of people allegedly stormed the room and accused him of misconduct.

“I didn’t know they had already planned everything against me. Many others joined them in the process just to make sure I went to prison,” he said.

He further alleged that some individuals involved had vowed to ensure he never regained his freedom.

“One of them even said she would make sure I didn’t come out alive. They thought that was the end of my life, but God brought me out again in good health,” he added.

The actor also expressed disappointment over what he described as betrayal by some people within the entertainment industry.

“A lot of elders and colleagues in the movie industry betrayed me. They conspired. All of this happened because of my glory,” he alleged.

Reflecting on his time in prison, Baba Ijesha said the experience had a profound impact on his life.

“I ended up in Kirikiri prison because of a woman. But I thank God that I am free today. I suffered greatly during that period,” he said.

He also used the song to advise his fans to be cautious about the people they trust.

“My fans, please be careful with friends. They cannot always be trusted. The world is evil, and sometimes people can be more dangerous than venomous snakes,” he warned.

The case sparked nationwide outrage in 2021 after comedian and actress Princess Adekoya accused the actor of sexually assaulting her 14-year-old foster daughter.

The allegation generated widespread reactions on social media and within the entertainment industry, with several celebrities speaking out.

Among those who publicly advocated justice for the minor was actress Iyabo Ojo, who was vocal in calling for accountability following the incident.
