President Donald Trump has just announced a last-minute extension of the ceasefire with Iran. Despite the tension and his recent threats to resume bombing, he said he made this decision because of a special request from Pakistan’s top leaders, General Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The US military was already on high alert to start “Operation Midnight Hammer” again, but Trump is giving Iran one more chance. He says the Iranian government is currently “fractured” and cannot agree on anything.
Because of this, he is extending the truce until their leaders can bring a single, clear proposal to the table in Islamabad.
The US naval blockade on Iranian ports is still fully active.
Trump made it clear that while the bombs are on hold, his ships will stay in place and the blockade will continue until a final deal is signed. He is basically telling Iran to talk now or face the consequences later.
