18 years Old Abuja Housemaid Arraigned Over $1,200 Theft

An 18-year-old housemaid, Christabel Issac, has been arraigned before the Life Camp Magistrate’s Court in Abuja for allegedly stealing $1,200 from her employer.

Issac, a resident of Wamba in Nasarawa State, faces a charge of theft by servant. She pleaded not guilty to the allegation.

The prosecutor, Charity Nwachukwu, told the court that the complainant, Mrs. Loveth Ayoade, reported the matter to Gwarinpa Police Station in August 2025. Ayoade resides at Efab Queens Estate, Gwarinpa, Abuja.

According to the prosecution, Issac allegedly entered the complainant’s husband’s room and took $1,200 (approximately N1.6 million) without consent.

Nwachukwu added that Issac reportedly gave $1,000 to Micheal Genesis and $200 to Rilwan Garuba for conversion into naira.

During police interrogation, the defendant made a confessional statement, and officers recovered N200,000 from her possession.

The prosecutor noted that the alleged offense contravenes the provisions of the Penal Code.

Magistrate Halilu R. Yusuf granted Issac bail of N1 million with two sureties of the same amount. He directed that the sureties reside within the court’s jurisdiction and provide verifiable identification.

The case has been adjourned to June 14 for hearing.
