16 Trapped as Five-Storey Building Collapses in Port Harcourt

No fewer than 16 persons, including a site engineer, were trapped on Wednesday after a five-storey building under construction collapsed in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The incident occurred at about 9 a.m., triggering panic among residents and workers in the area.

Eyewitnesses said several construction workers and the site engineer were on the premises when the structure suddenly gave way, burying them beneath the rubble.

Emergency responders, security personnel and local residents immediately launched rescue operations in a bid to reach those trapped under the debris.

As of the time of filing this report, the exact cause of the collapse had not been determined, while the number of casualties and survivors remained uncertain.

Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with anxious relatives and concerned residents gathering around the site as rescue efforts continued.
