Nollywood actress Biola Fowosere has shared the emotional toll of her failed marriage, alleging that her former husband abandoned her and their children without explanation, leaving her to battle depression and raise the family alone.

Speaking during an interview on African A-List, the Yoruba film star became visibly emotional as she reflected on one of the most painful periods of her life, saying she has never understood why her marriage ended so abruptly.

Holding back tears, Fowosere said the unanswered questions surrounding her former husband’s departure continue to weigh heavily on her, insisting that neither she nor their children deserved to be left behind.

“The only person I’d really want to ask a question is my ex-husband,” she said.

“I’d really like to ask him what I did wrong because I did nothing before he left me and the kids. I want to ask what my children and I did to deserve what he did to us.”

The actress disclosed that the emotional trauma that followed the separation had a devastating impact on her mental health.

According to her, she spent one year and six months in hospital receiving treatment for severe depression, describing the experience as one that nearly pushed her to the brink.

“I spent one year and six months in the hospital battling depression after he left. I almost ran mad,” she said.

Fowosere also alleged that she and her children have had no contact with her former husband since he left the family, claiming he blocked all communication seven years ago.

“We are not in contact. Since he left, we haven’t seen him. He blocked us seven years ago,” she added.

Her emotional account has drawn attention to the often-overlooked psychological impact of family separation and the challenges faced by single parents navigating life after the breakdown of a marriage.

The actress’s remarks reflect her personal experience, and her former husband has not publicly responded to the allegations.
