P-Square Split Destroyed Africa’s Biggest Music Brand — Daddy Showkey

Veteran Nigerian singer, Daddy Showkey, has criticised the prolonged disagreement between Peter and Paul Okoye, saying the fallout has damaged the musical legacy they built together as P-Square.

Daddy Showkey made the remarks during an interview with Goldmyne TV while reflecting on the influence and popularity the twin brothers achieved during their years as a group.

According to him, P-Square was not merely a personal venture belonging to Peter and Paul, but a major African music brand that attracted a huge following over the years.

“P-Square destroyed the biggest brand that Africa produced. P-Square isn’t for them alone,” he said.

The veteran entertainer said the success of musicians is closely tied to the support they receive from their fans, adding that artists should consider the impact of their decisions on the people who contributed to their careers.

He noted that entertainers should not focus solely on their personal interests when dealing with disputes that could affect a brand built through years of public support.

Daddy Showkey also urged the brothers to find common ground and end their prolonged disagreement, stressing that their relationship as siblings should remain more important than their differences.

“Dragging themselves like this, the future will tell. No matter what, you guys are brothers. No matter what, you should look for a place to resolve things because you have children,” he said.

He further expressed concern that the dispute could eventually extend into the next generation if the brothers failed to resolve it.

“Tomorrow you will carry this beef to your children,” he warned.

Daddy Showkey also drew from his own experience as an entertainer, explaining that public support plays a significant role in building and sustaining an artist’s career.

He maintained that artists owe their audiences consideration because fans are an important part of the journey that turns performers into established brands.

The remarks come amid the continuing disagreements surrounding Peter and Paul, as well as their elder brother, Jude Okoye, who previously played a managerial role in P-Square.

The twin brothers have since pursued separate musical careers, but their family and professional disagreements have continued to attract widespread public interest.
