MTN Nigeria has warned its subscribers against fraudulent websites, links and social media posts falsely offering a 25GB free data bundle as part of the company’s 25th anniversary celebration.
The telecom giant issued the warning on Saturday through its official support account on X, urging customers to be cautious and avoid engaging with suspicious platforms claiming to offer the promotion.
MTN said the legitimate 25GB anniversary offer is available only through its official channels, particularly the MyMTN NG App and MTN eShop.
“Please beware of fake MTN 25th Anniversary 25GB giveaway offers circulating online,” the company warned.
It advised subscribers not to click on unverified links, disclose personal information or make payments to websites or platforms claiming to facilitate access to the giveaway.
According to MTN, eligible customers can redeem the offer by logging into the MyMTN App and selecting “Redeem Now” on the anniversary banner.
Subscribers can also visit the MTN eShop and follow the instructions to activate the bundle. Customers who received an official SMS notification about the promotion may use the link provided in the message.
The company further warned subscribers against sharing sensitive information, including banking details, passwords and one-time passwords, with unknown websites or individuals.
MTN also noted that the 25GB bundle is subject to a validity period and will expire at 11:59pm on the specified expiry date.
The telecom operator urged customers to verify all information about the anniversary promotion through its official channels and disregard suspicious websites and social media posts.
