Woman Stabs Husband to Death Eight Months After Wedding

A woman identified as Innocent Serah has allegedly stabbed her husband, Innocent Nwaọjị, to death in Umuokereke Ngwa, Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.

The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday night, leaving residents of the community shocked.

Although the circumstances surrounding the incident and what may have led to the alleged stabbing remain unclear, it was gathered that Nwaọjị was allegedly attacked while he was asleep.

A community member, David Amaraizu, confirmed the incident during a telephone conversation with journalists on Sunday.

According to him, the couple got married in December 2025 and had been married for barely eight months before the tragedy.

He said, “We are not aware of any disagreement between the couple before the incident. The woman had been arrested and is currently in police custody, while the deceased’s body had been deposited at a morgue.”

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in Abia State, Maureen Chinaka, said, “I will get back to you.” However, an official response is still being awaited as of the time of filing the report.
