27-year-old Man Remanded for Stealing 22 pairs of Women’s Pants for Ritual Purposes in Adamawa State

A 27-year-old man, Muktar Shehu, has been remanded in a correctional facility in Yola, Adamawa State, after allegedly stealing 22 pairs of a woman’s pants for ritual purposes.

Shehu, a resident of Zango Ward in Jimeta, Yola North LGA, was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Court 3, presided over by Uwani Danladi, by the Adamawa State Police Command.

According to the First Information Report presented by the prosecutor, Inspector Danjuma Hamidu, the defendant allegedly broke into the residence of Halima Yakubu on August 6, 2026, and stole 22 pairs of pants along with other clothing items.

The prosecutor told the court that during interrogation, Shehu reportedly admitted taking the clothes for ritual purposes. He was charged with house trespass, theft and criminal charm.

During his arraignment, Shehu pleaded guilty to the charges, while the prosecutor requested that a witness be called to corroborate his plea.

The court subsequently ordered that he be remanded in a correctional facility pending further proceedings.
