2027: PDP Backs G-100 Coalition To Unseat Tinubu, APC

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has endorsed the G-100, a coalition of 100 opposition figures working to build a united platform to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

The PDP disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong.

The party said its decision was driven by what it described as growing hardship, poverty and insecurity under the Bola Tinubu-led APC administration, stressing the need for opposition parties and political groups to unite in what it called a move to “salvage” the country.

According to the PDP, it participated in the inaugural meeting of the G-100 held on August 31, signalling its readiness to contribute to the formation of an all-opposition platform ahead of the 2027 elections.

The party said its participation was consistent with its earlier commitment to work with “like-minded political parties and organisations” seeking to challenge the APC.

PDP factional National Chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, said the party’s involvement would be guided by transparency, equality, data-driven decision-making and egalitarianism.

He expressed confidence that a candidate produced through such a process would offer Nigerians credible leadership capable of tackling the country’s economic and security challenges.

The development adds momentum to ongoing efforts by opposition parties to form a coalition capable of defeating the APC in 2027, with the PDP insisting that any emerging platform must be built on a transparent and credible process.
