An Award To Honor Mr Lekan Otufodunrin, A Life Coach, Outstanding Editor, Mentor And A Seasoned Journalist Established.

Mr Lekan Otufodunrin has expressed shock that an Abuja based Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) has named an award after his name.

In a statement which he shared in a group is as follows,

LEKAN OTUFODUNRIN AWARD FOR STUDENT JOURNALISTS.

The Lekan Otufodunrin Award for student journalists honours up-and-coming (Student) journalists in Nigeria who strive to strengthen people’s voices and illuminate the happenings across the country.

The Award was established to honour Lekan Otufodunrin, a life coach, mentor, outstanding editor, and journalist of high repute.

He has been a passionate mentor to several student journalists across the country and has shown a great belief in journalism, with his commitment to its progress in Nigeria.

Winning entries will be selected based on the quality of the piece and the impact it has made in the society. We welcome excellent submissions, especially those that demonstrate analytical skills in addition to outstanding writing ability.

ABOUT THE AWARD

This is the maiden edition of the Award that would honour emerging journalists (students) in Nigeria, particularly those who strive to strengthen peoples’ voices and illuminate the happenings across the country.

The first-prize winner of this inaugural Award will receive N70,000, Second prize winner will bag N50,000. There are other cash prizes for other winners.

The application ends on Sunday, February 28.

Eligibility
•The contest is open to student journalists in Nigeria. It is open for report published in print and online news media.

•Applicants must be a student of any of the institution in Nigeria.

•We are looking for impactful investigative or explanatory pieces, especially those that beam search light on happenings in Nigeria

•Multimedia submissions may include web, audio, video, visual or mixed media.

.The submitted story must be published between January 1, 2020, and January 31, 2021.

Five applicants will be selected to the final stage through an announcement that will be made on April 25, 2021.

Selected winners will be announced on May 9, 2021
