Aregbesola: I’ve Never Been Intimate With Another Woman Since Marrying My Wife

National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, Rauf Aregbesola, has made a personal revelation about his marriage, saying he has never been intimate with another woman since he married his wife, Sherifat.

The former Osun State governor made the disclosure while addressing supporters of the ADC at a campaign rally in Ejigbo Local Government Area of the state ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

Speaking in Yoruba, Aregbesola said his marital fidelity was not merely a matter of personal discipline but also part of his commitment to his faith and fear of God.

He told the gathering that only a few men could make such a claim, insisting that he had remained devoted to his wife since their marriage.

“Oh Lord my God, if you are the one I am serving, and I did not add any other thing to it. What I am about to say, only a few men can say it: Because of your fear, I never had any intimacy with another woman since I married my wife,” he said.

Aregbesola also appeared to tie his personal devotion to his political aspirations, telling God that he expected his party to take control of the Osun State Government House.

“I told God that next June, we must do it at the Government House,” he added.

His comments came as political parties intensified their campaigns across Osun ahead of the governorship election fixed for Saturday, August 15, 2026.

The election will see the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, seeking another term in office.

He will face the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, and the ADC candidate, Najeem Folasayo Salaam, among other contenders.

The poll is expected to be closely watched as the competing parties seek to convince voters across the state in the final stretch of the campaign.
