Chief Dele Momodu, the Director of Strategic Communications PDP Presidential Campaign Council, has revealed that the presidential candidate of the PDP during the primaries wanted the presidency to be zoned to the southeast, but some bigwigs rejected it because it won’t favour them, Channels Television  reports. Dele Momodu while speaking on the reason why Atiku Abubakar emerged as the flag bearer of the party noted that Nyesom Wike and other PDP chieftains who are from the southsouth regions rejected it because they know it won’t favour them and that was why they disagreed. Momodu said, “Atiku wanted the ticket to be given to southeast, but Wike, others said it won’t favour them.”

Dele Momodu further revealed that the likes of Nyesom Wike were the ones who made the PDP leadership to throw open the presidential ticket to all zones and with the support and people Nyesom Wike had, he thought he was going to be the one to win, but unfortunately for him, he lost. Dele Momodu also said that due to the fact that Atiku contested and won the PDP’s primaries, Governor Nyesom Wike has been angry over the development.
