Tina Turner real name Anna Mae Bullock popularly known for her hit song “What’s Love got to do with it” has died peacefully at 83 on Wednesday.

The Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll died after a long illness at her home in Küsnacht near Zurich in Switzerland.

Tina’s spokesman confirmed she died “peacefully” at home and added: “With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model. With her music and her inexhaustible vitality, Tina Turner thrilled millions of fans and inspired many artists of subsequent generations.”

Roger Davies, the singer’s manager of 30 years, paid tribute to the star, saying: “Tina was a unique and remarkable force of nature with her strength, incredible energy and immense talent.

“From the first day I met her in 1980, she believed in herself completely when few others did at that time.

“It was a privilege and an honour to have been a close friend as well as her manager for more than 30 years. I will miss her deeply

Following the news of her death, Tributes have been pouring in.

Naomi Campbell commented: “REST in Peace & Power THE QUEEN , LEGEND, ICON . There will never be another. Cherish my times with you.”

Bernice King, the daughter of civil rights activist Martin Luther King, simply wrote, “Goodnight, Queen”.

Canadian Bryan Adams, a friend of Tina’s, tweeted: “My condolences to Erwin and Tina’s family.

“I’ll be forever grateful for the time we spent together on tour, in the studio and as friends.

“Thank you for being the inspiration to millions of people around the world for speaking your truth and giving us the gift of your voice. It’s Only Love, and that’s all.”

Alexandra Burke posted: “RIP to the one and only Tina. There will never be anyone like you. truly the greatest!” Etc.

In her lifetime she won many awards such as,

12 Grammys.

3 Grammy Hall of Fame awards.

Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

The first Black artist and the first female to be on the cover of Rolling Stone.

She was in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame two times.

The world will miss this extraordinary musical Icon.

 

Hilda Effiong Bassey, a chef and entrepreneur from Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria popularly known as Hilda Baci has broken the previous Guinness World Record cooking marathon held by one person.

Hilda Baci set the new Record on Monday morning 15th, of May 2023 by 7.59am in Lagos Nigeria on 88 hours.

 

Lata Tondon from India held the longest cooking time by an individual by 87 hours, 45 minutes. But Hilda Baci had shattered that record as from on set, her target was 96 hours.

Hilda Baci has made Nigerians proud by achieving this feat of  breaking the world record on longest cooking period, with her 88 hours cooking non-stop this morning to set aside the previous 87 hours, 45 minutes, and 00 seconds held by Lata Tondon from India.

Her fans and supporters dare the rainfall in the night and early morning to stay and encourage and cheered her to victory.

20 things to know about Hilda Baci and her Guinness World Record Marathon Cooking

1. Her real name is Hilda Bassey Effiong. She is a young Nigerian chef from Akwa Ibom State. She owes a food brand in Lagos called “My Food by Hilda”

2. She will be cooking for 4 days non-stop.

She must stand to cook, she is not permitted to sit while cooking.

4. She’s not allowed to take coffee, stimulants, or any energy drink to artificially boost her energy and bodily strength while cooking.

5. She’s allowed to eat food, drink water or fruit juice, & take glucose.

6. The cooking is taking place at Amore Gardens, Lekki, Lagos State, Nigeria.

7. She cooks round the clock, no sleep (Morning, afternoon, evening, and night. So, for 4 nights, she won’t sleep).

8. She has just 5 minutes rest per hour [meaning for every 1 hour, she is entitled to just 5 minutes rest or break, that’s an hour break in every 12 hours].

Legendary and longtime talk show host, Jerry Springer is dead.

He died in his home in Chicago, Illinois on April 27 at the age of 79.

“Jerry’s ability to connect with people was at the heart of his success in everything he tried whether that was politics, broadcasting or just joking with people on the street who wanted a photo or a word,” said Jene Galvin, a lifelong friend and spokesman for the family in a statement.

He’s irreplaceable and his loss hurts immensely, but memories of his intellect, heart and humor will live on.”

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the TV host revealed what he would put on his tombstone, “I know what I’m going to put on my tombstone,” Springer told ET at the time. “‘I won’t be right back.’”

Springer’s daytime talk show The Jerry Springer Show ran for 27 years. The controversial TV show often showed huge brawls on stage while the audience chanted “Jerry, Jerry, Jerry” during the intro.

After the show ended, he started another show Judge Jerry that ran from 2019 to 2022, and his final TV appearance was on The Masked Singer in 2022.

Springer is survived by his daughter, Katie Springer, and his sister, Evelyn.

How did Jerry Springer die?

According to Jene Galvin and TMZ, Jerry Springer died from his brief illness of pancreatic cancer. He was diagnosed with the disease months before his death.

Before his famed talk show that mostly entailed fights and controversy, Springer was a lawyer and politician in Cincinnati, Ohio where he joined the city council in 1971 and became the city’s mayor in 1977.

He served one term after admitting he solicited a sex worker. He gave a statement, “It is with deep personal regret that I am announcing today my resignation from City Council. I understand what I am giving up, an enormous opportunity to share in the leadership of this great city. However, very personal family considerations necessitate this action. My family must and does come before my own personal career. Thank you all for all you have given me. I hope I have offered something positive in return.”

He later attempted to run for Ohio’s gubernatorial race in 1982 but lost to Richard Celeste.
