Talented Fast-rising Nigerian disc jockey, Ogadi Emmanuel Amobi, popularly known as DJ Mobz, has opened up about his passion for music and his aspirations to collaborate with top entertainers in the Nigerian music industry. Known for curating high-profile mixtapes, DJ Mobz has steadily built a name for himself in the vibrant world of Nigerian entertainment.
In an exclusive chat with journalists, the Delta State-born talent shared how his journey into DJing began at just 13 years old. “I’ve always been a music lover and deeply fascinated by the entertainment industry,” he said. “Watching veterans like DJ David Guetta and the legendary DJ Jimmy Jatt inspired me. I was amazed by how they mixed tracks to create something truly beautiful. That’s when I told myself, ‘I want to be like them, perhaps beyond them.’”
Reflecting on the challenges faced by DJs in Nigeria, Mobz didn’t hold back his thoughts. “One of the major issues DJs face is lack of recognition. We don’t get our flowers,” he said. “DJs play a vital role in the music ecosystem, yet there are barely any platforms that celebrate us. There should be awards that recognize not just artists, but also DJs, sound engineers, and others working behind the scenes.”
“Every artist needs a DJ, whether it’s for live performances or setting the tone for an event. But sadly, most people don’t see DJing as something serious. It’s high time the industry acknowledged our contributions.”
Now 24, DJ Mobz is setting his sights on bigger collaborations with industry giants. “I’m open to working with great minds like Don Jazzy, Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Shallipopi, and many others. These are creatives I truly admire, and I’d love to bring our energies together.” With talent, drive, and a clear vision, DJ Mobz is undoubtedly a name to watch in the Nigerian music scene.
