FG Sues El-Rufai For Admitting On National TV That Someone In his camp Tapped Phone Lines Of NSA Nuhu Ribadu

The Federal government has filed a lawsuit against former Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, for ‘’tapping’’ the phone lines of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

In an interview on Prime Time, an Arise Television programme last Friday, February 13, El-Rufai said “someone tapped” Ribadu’s phone, allowing him to listen to the NSA allegedly instructing security operatives to effect his arrest.
He acknowledged the act’s illegality and argued that even the government does it all the time.

“He made the call because we listened to their calls. The government thinks they are the only ones that listen to calls but we also have our ways. He made the call and gave the order.

Someone tapped his phone. The government listens to our calls all the time without a court order. Someone tapped his phone and told us that he gave the order.”

In a post shared on X this morning, lawyer/activist, Deji Adeyanju, revealed that the Federal government has filed a lawsuit before the Federal High Court Abuja against El-Rufai over the claim. The court paper states that El-Rufai by his own admittance while on TV, committed an offence under section 12(1) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) (Amendment) Act 2024.
