A businessman in Ogun State narrowly escaped an alleged kidnap and murder plot after one of the suspected conspirators reportedly alerted security operatives to the scheme.

The prime suspect, identified as Owolabi Moses, is alleged to have masterminded a plan to abduct and kill his former employer, Mr. Chidozie Joseph, in a bid to gain control of his assets and business interests.

According to reports, Moses, who previously worked as Mr. Joseph’s driver, allegedly recruited three other individuals to carry out the operation. The suspects were said to have planned not only to kidnap and murder the businessman but also to dispose of his property, particularly goods linked to his drinks business.

However, the alleged plot unravelled before it could be executed after one of the recruited accomplices, a butcher, reportedly became troubled by the plan and decided to inform the So-Safe Security Corps office in Ota, Ogun State.

Acting on the intelligence, security operatives reportedly launched an operation that led to the arrest of the suspects before the alleged plan could be carried out.

Sources said the suspects later made confessional statements during interrogation, allegedly admitting their involvement in the planned abduction and murder.

The suspects are currently being detained at the New Ota Police Station, opposite the Magistrate Court in Ota, while investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the case.

The incident has sparked concern among residents, highlighting the dangers business owners can face from individuals within their trusted circles. Authorities have assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway and that anyone found culpable will face the full weight of the law.

It is important to note that the allegations remain under investigation, and the suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
