Having Children With Different Women Is My Biggest Regret – Ubi Franklin

Nigerian talent manager and music executive Ubi Franklin has opened up about one of the biggest regrets of his personal life, describing having children with different women as a decision he wishes he had never made.

Speaking on a recent episode of his podcast, Talks with Ubi Franklin, the father of four urged young people to learn from his experience, stressing that the emotional challenges involved often outweigh any financial considerations.

A clip from the episode, shared on his Instagram page on Wednesday, captured Franklin reflecting candidly on his journey as a father and the lessons he has learnt over the years.

“One of the worst decisions you could ever make is to have kids with different women,” he said.

“I’m one of those people who are living through it, and I can tell you that no matter how much money you think you have or what you have achieved, it is not a decision anyone should deliberately make.”

Franklin explained that while he has been able to meet his children’s financial needs, the real difficulty lies in managing relationships with the different mothers of his children.

“Some of us are fortunate enough to have the resources to take care of our children. But providing for them is not the problem. The real challenge is managing the emotions of the adults who are their mothers,” he said.

He urged young people to avoid making similar choices, warning that the emotional strain associated with co-parenting across multiple relationships can be overwhelming.

“Please, no matter the kind of life you want to live, don’t let baby mama drama become part of your story. Some of us have survived it, but not everyone will be able to.”

Despite his regrets, Franklin emphasised that he considers his children to be life’s greatest blessing.

“I wish I had taken a different path. Children are the best gift we can ever have. If you can do anything possible, have all your children in one home,” he said.

In the caption accompanying the video, the music executive said he chose to speak openly about his past in the hope that others would make wiser decisions.

“Learn from my experience. Growth begins with honesty,” he wrote.

Franklin married actress Lilian Esoro on 1 November 2015, but the marriage ended about a year later. The former couple share a son, Jayden.

In 2017, he disclosed that he battled depression for nine months following the collapse of the marriage. Besides Jayden, Franklin has three other children from previous relationships.

His latest remarks offer a rare glimpse into the personal struggles behind his public image and reflect his desire to encourage younger people to make thoughtful decisions about relationships and family life.
