How My Friend Deceived Me Into Selling My Kidney For Some Dollars, Collected The Money And Squandered It— Victim

A man has recounted how his friend, Emmanuel Odeh, allegedly deceived him into selling his kidney, collected the money paid to him and later squandered it.

Emmanuel introduced him to David, where they met an agent called Ben. After tests showed his kidney did not match the intended recipient, Emmanuel contacted Ben again, who later said they had found a compatible recipient.

He said Ben told him his name would be changed to Hassan Abubakar.

“Ben then said that they were going to change my name, that I would be bearing Hassan Abubakar.”

He said they were taken to the Federal High Court, where an affidavit was done, before proceeding to Wellington Clinic, Life Camp.

They were given dollars around 10 to 11 p.m.

“When I was going into the theatre, I gave Emmanuel the money to hold for me.”

He said Emmanuel changed the money and bought two phones, two power banks and two Wi-Fi devices, giving him one of each. They spent almost a week in hospital before Emmanuel took him to a hotel and later to Cross River State, where they stayed for almost three months.

He said he asked Emmanuel about the money.

“I asked him, ‘Where is the money?’ He told me that the money had finished.”

He added that Emmanuel said they had no transport money to return to Abuja and sold his phone to raise the fare.

Asked if Emmanuel squandered the money, he replied, “Yes, ma.”

The man said Emmanuel had told him his kidney would be removed but assured him there would be no problem.

“He just told me that it’s something that they’ll just ‘comot’, that there is no issue in there, that if they ‘comot’ it, I can still do everything that I want to do and that I will not have any issue.”

He confirmed he knew about the donation and consented to it. He said it happened sometime in April and that he was given $100 and $150, though he could not confirm the exact total.
