I Have Never Met Late Mohbad, Wife Or Any Member Of His Family – Oba Elegushi Monarch Says

The Elegushi of Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom in Lagos State, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, the Elegushi, Kunsela III, has denied ever meeting the late singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

The monarch disclosed this through his lawyer, Adepeju Omotayo of Bandele Omotayo & Co. at the continuation of trial of two suspects, James Adeshola and Awiye Azeez, who are facing trial at Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos State, on their alleged cyberstalking, illegal publication, and defamation of Oba Elegushi.

As the court fixed the trial date of the two accused persons for resume on July 5, Oba Elegushi said that there is the need to earn people’s trust.

He urged the Nigerian police to unravel the mystery surrounding Mohbad’s untimely death.

According to Omotayo, the traditional ruler “is very on his position on this matter as he has continued to admonish all those seeking justice to do so responsibly and in accordance with the law”.

The lawyer stressed that Oba Elegushi “never met or interacted with the late Aloba, his wife or any member of his family and hopes this put an end to the needless buffoonery of dragging him into the matter”.

He said, “Kabiesi made it known that his desire as a father and a leader is to see the unraveling of the circumstances leading to the death of Mohbad, and this he did emphatically to Mr. Josiah Aloba, Mohbad’s dad, at a meeting with his legal team at Zone 2 Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Onikan when Mr. Aloba was invited for questioning over unfounded statements and allegations against Kabiesi.”

Omotayo noted that Oba Elegushi said he will not allow anyone, no matter his or her status or position in the society to tarnish his good name and reputation for whatever gain.

Some bloggers had claimed that the monarch had intimate relations with Mohbad’s wife, Omowunmi and fathered her child.
