I Sold My Car for N180,000 to Buy Okada — Actor Sunday Afolabi Breaks Down in Tears

Veteran Nollywood actor Sunday Afolabi has opened up about the difficult period he has faced since relocating to Badagry, revealing that the move has negatively affected his acting career and left him struggling to make ends meet.

Afolabi made the emotional revelation during an interview with Biola Adebayo on the Talk to B podcast, where he recalled how he went from being a familiar face on television to taking up different jobs just to survive.

According to the actor, he relocated to Badagry because he wanted to own a house, but the decision came with serious setbacks to his career.

He said he eventually lost his Nissan Quest after being unable to afford repairs, adding that the vehicle remained unused for almost two years while acting and photography jobs became scarce.
“I actually sold my Nissan Quest to buy a fairly used motorcycle,” Afolabi said, revealing that he sold the car for just N180,000. He explained that he was not accustomed to riding motorcycles and repeatedly fell while using it.

The actor became emotional while recounting what his wife and children had gone through with him during the difficult period.

He also recalled an encounter with a man who recognised him as a television star but was shocked to see him struggling. According to Afolabi, the man told him, “You are a TV star, if you don’t know what to do, go back to the city and meet your people.”
“What I h@te most in my life is to beg for food. I would rather do any legitimate job,” he said.

He added that he is willing to work and would use a good car for Uber if given one.

Following his revelation, Biola Adebayo appealed to the public to support the veteran actor, saying she hopes to help him secure a car, better accommodation and a means of livelihood through the Talk to B platform.
