I Stay Away From Sex Six Weeks Before A Fight — Boxing Champion Clarissa Shields

Undisputed boxing champion Claressa Shields has opened up about one of her strict pre-fight routines, revealing that she abstains from sex for six weeks before stepping into the ring.

Speaking on Club Shay Shay Podcast, Shields said, “I don’t know what the other women do but I stay away from sex 6 weeks before the fight.”

She explained that the discipline helps her maintain focus and physical sharpness. “For me, it makes me feel really relaxed and really calm. You gotta be able to run. It really does take something out of your legs to me.”

According to Shields, the abstinence not only boosts her performance but may also fuel her fierce competitiveness: “So it’s like six weeks. Maybe that’s why I’ll be so mean and angry. I feel a lot stronger not doing it.”

Shields, widely regarded as the greatest female boxer of all time, continues to share insights into the mental and physical demands behind her dominance in the sport.
