“I Was Paid ₦100,000 to Bomb Worshippers At Gamboru Market Mosque,” – Maiduguri Mosque Bomber Confesses

A suspected Boko Haram bomber, Ibrahim Mohammed, captured by Operation Hadin Kai troops and local hunters in Yobe State, has revealed how he was recruited, paid, and deployed to attack worshippers at Gamboru Market Mosque in Maiduguri. Ibrahim admitted receiving up to N100,000 per mission, including the Dec. 24 bombing that killed five and injured 32.

According to Zagazola Makama, Ibrahim, from Michika in Adamawa, said Boko Haram commanders Adamu and Abubakar supplied him and his colleague with IEDs. “We planted the bombs after Zuhur and Asr prayers when the mosque was empty. My colleague dug in the center while I worked on the side. We timed the devices for Maghrib prayers,” he confessed. Disturbingly, he returned afterward pretending to help evacuate victims.

He explained that suicide bombings had become a paid assignment within Boko Haram networks. “I regret my action for killing innocent people,” he added. Ibrahim was part of a wider terror cell planning multiple attacks across the North-East under Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS), Ansaru, and JNIM factions.

Security sources revealed that a Boko Haram team, led by IED expert Munzir Abu Ziyadah, prepared up to 10 person-borne explosives from Ali Ngulde camp. After the Gamboru attack, Ibrahim moved to Yobe to scout military and hunters’ positions for future attacks. He was arrested in Damaturu on Dec. 29 during a raid on a suspected hideout, raising suspicion among locals.

During interrogation, Ibrahim confirmed his membership in the JAS faction from the Mandara Mountains and admitted accompanying the Gamboru Market Mosque bomber.
