I Will Win Any Free, Fair Election in Nigeria – Singer Davido Brags

Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has declared that no politician can defeat him in a free and fair election in Nigeria if he decides to contest for public office.

The singer, however, ruled out any immediate political ambition, citing what he described as the lack of transparency in Nigeria’s electoral system.

Davido made the remarks during a recent livestream with content creator Carter Efe, when he was asked whether he would consider governing a state.
Responding in Pidgin English, the singer said he had no interest in participating in elections where results could be manipulated.

“Nigeria where they write results? I don’t have time for all that. I am not the type you can cheat and expect me to go home quietly. If you cheat me, I will do something,” he said.

He added that he would remain focused on his music career until the country’s electoral process becomes more credible.

“Let me just focus on my music until there is transparency, then I can go ahead and contest for elective positions. Nobody can beat me in any election. In a free and fair election, I can even win the presidential election in Nigeria,” Davido stated.

The award-winning artiste also said he was closely monitoring preparations for the forthcoming Osun State governorship election, expressing concern over the credibility of the electoral process.

“But because of the system, there is no transparency; they write results. I am waiting to see what they will do in the upcoming Osun governorship election. We are watching,” he added.
