I’d Love to Return to School, Get a Degree — Football Star, Osimhen

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has revealed that one of his biggest ambitions after football is to return to school and earn a university degree, saying education remains an important part of his long-term plans.

The Nigerian international, who currently plays for Turkish giants Galatasaray, made the revelation during an interview with Instablog TV, where he reflected on the lessons he has learned both in and outside the classroom.

Osimhen acknowledged that while formal education laid an important foundation, many of life’s greatest lessons have come through personal experiences and the challenges he has faced since leaving school.

“As an adult, not everything I learned came from school. There are some life lessons you encounter through life’s journey,” he said.

The 27-year-old noted that a professional football career is relatively short, making it essential for players to prepare for life after hanging up their boots.

He said pursuing a university degree would not only fulfil a personal dream but also equip him for the next chapter of his life.

“For me, it would be an amazing thing to also try to get a degree, which I’m still considering because football, you won’t play for so long, probably 20 or 25 years, and then you’re done.”

Although he admitted he already has several opportunities to rely on after retirement, Osimhen stressed that furthering his education would be a meaningful achievement and a way of inspiring younger generations.

“In as much as I have a lot of things to fall back on when I’m done, I think it’s still important for me to set an example and set a standard for the younger generation.”

The Super Eagles forward also offered words of encouragement to young people whose education had been interrupted by financial difficulties or other personal challenges.

According to him, leaving school does not have to mark the end of one’s educational journey, as there is always an opportunity to return.

“Even though you dropped out because of some challenges, it’s something you can always go back to. School is always there.”

Osimhen did not disclose when he intends to enrol at university or the course he hopes to study. However, his comments have been warmly received by fans, many of whom praised his commitment to lifelong learning and described his message as a timely reminder that academic achievement remains valuable, regardless of professional success.
