I’m Nigeria’s First Governor to Serve Eight Years Without Owning a House – Aregbesola

National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has claimed that he is the first governor in Nigeria’s history to complete an eight-year tenure without owning a personal house.

The former Governor of Osun State made the assertion while addressing his supporters in a video that has circulated online. According to him, he spent his entire time in office living in a friend’s residence rather than acquiring a private home.

Aregbesola, who was once a close political ally of President Bola Tinubu, challenged anyone with contrary evidence to prove him wrong.

“I am the first governor in Nigeria to govern a state for eight years without owning a house of my own,” he said.

“I stayed in my friend’s house throughout my eight years as governor in my father’s land. If anyone says what I am saying is not true, let the person come out and show Nigerians the house I own.”

The former Minister of Interior served as Governor of Osun State from 2010 to 2018 before joining the cabinet of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Reflecting on his time in office, Aregbesola said his administration was driven by a commitment to improving the welfare of the people. He noted that his government’s priorities included tackling poverty, reducing hunger and unemployment, promoting quality education, improving public health, and fostering peace and development across communities.

His remarks have since generated discussions on social media, with many Nigerians reacting to his claims about his personal lifestyle while serving as governor.
