Iran Strike Hits U.S. Surveillance Jet in Saudi Base

A major escalation in Middle East tensions has emerged following a reported strike by Iran on a key United States military asset at Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia.

According to defence analysts, the attack carried out using a combination of missiles and drones targeted the U.S. E-3 Sentry AWACS, a high-value airborne radar and command platform critical for surveillance and battlefield coordination.

Initial reports indicate that the strike may have significantly degraded U.S. aerial monitoring capabilities in the region, with additional support aircraft also believed to have sustained damage. At least 12 American service members were reportedly injured in the assault.

Security experts say the incident underscores Iran’s growing capacity to hit strategic military targets, even amid sustained U.S. operations across the Middle East. The apparent success of the strike has intensified concerns over the vulnerability of key Western defence infrastructure in the region.

In response to the development, the United Kingdom is said to be deploying additional troops and advanced air defence systems to bolster protection for allied forces and installations.
