Learn Contentment, Don’t be Beggarly — Remi Tinubu tells Nigerian youths

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged young Nigerians to remain committed to their ambitions, encouraging them to pursue success through hard work, patience and integrity rather than depending on others for survival.

She gave the advice on Friday while receiving members of the National Youth Wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the State House in Abuja. During the meeting, the First Lady donated nine buses to support the activities of the party’s youth leadership across the country.

According to a statement issued by her Senior Special Assistant on Media, Busola Kukoyi, Senator Tinubu challenged the youths to cultivate values that would enable them to achieve lasting success.

She cautioned against the growing tendency among young people to seek quick results, stressing that genuine success requires perseverance and trust in God’s timing.

“God always knows our needs, and that is what many young people do not understand. They are always in a hurry,” she said.

The First Lady also urged the youths to embrace contentment and self-reliance instead of adopting a mindset of dependency.

“I am teaching you to learn contentment and not to be beggarly,” she added.

Using the eagle as a symbol of resilience, Senator Tinubu encouraged the young leaders to remain steadfast in the face of challenges and avoid measuring their progress against that of others.

“You have to have the eagle’s mentality. When the eagle sees a storm, it does not panic; it rises above it. That is the attitude you should adopt. Find your own path instead of wanting something simply because someone else has it,” she said.

She emphasised that resilience, discipline and determination are essential qualities for young Nigerians seeking to build successful and meaningful lives.
