Man Arrested After Wife Dies Following An Altercation Over Alleged Infidelity In Anambra

Police operatives in Anambra State have arrested a middle-aged man, identified as Nwana, in connection with the death of his wife, Chioma.

It was gathered that the suspect allegedly set Chioma ablaze during a heated argument over suspected infidelity in Eziezekwe village, Abagana, Njikoka LGA of the state.

According to reports, Nwana confronted Chioma on Tuesday evening, January 21, after she returned home following an alleged outing with another man.

During the altercation, Nwana reportedly poured petrol on his wife and set her ablaze. Chioma, who suffered severe burns, was rushed to a nearby hospital but tragically passed away on Wednesday morning.

Speaking with the state Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, the suspect said he has five children with Chioma and two children from a previous marriage.

“I did it out of anger. I don’t know when I did it. In fact, there was a spirit that entered into me,” he said.
