Man Shot Dead By Law Enforcement Agent During Argument While Struggling To Buy Fuel Amid Scarcity

A resident of Lagos State was on Wednesday evening reportedly shot dead while struggling to buy fuel amid the current scarcity of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol.

The male resident whose identity has not been ascertained was shot dead at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) mega filling station in Obalende.

The deceased was said to have engaged in an argument with another person at the filling station over whose turn it was to buy fuel.

It was during the argument and scuffle that the deceased was shot dead. The killer fled the scene immediately.

However, there are conflicting reports regarding the identity of the killer, as some witnesses said the killer was a policeman while others said he was an operative of the Department of State Services (DSS).

It was gathered that following the escape of the killer, angry youths in the area went wild and burnt two Hilux vehicles belonging to the police and the DSS.

The incident caused tension around the fuel station and residents were advised to stay indoors until normalcy returned.
