Many Injured As Terrorists Ambush Nigerian Troops On Mission To Rescue Kebbi Schoolgirls

Several Nigerian soldiers were injured after terrorists ambushed a military team on a mission to rescue kidnapped students in Kebbi State.

The attack occurred just a day after the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, directed troops of Operation Fasan Yamma to intensify efforts against the bandits responsible for abducting students from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga.

Shaibu instructed the troops to conduct continuous day-and-night operations, emphasizing the use of intelligence for targeted action. “Once you receive information on something like this, act professionally and decisively. This is not just about our image; it is about doing our job properly,” he said.

Troops were ordered to maintain 24-hour operations until all the abducted students are safely rescued and returned to their families.

During the mission, the soldiers were ambushed, resulting in several injuries. Video footage obtained by DAILY POST shows wounded soldiers lying helplessly, awaiting medical assistance. One victim, speaking in Hausa, said, “Musa has a bullet lodged in his leg. His condition is very bad.”

The military vehicle used in the operation was also riddled with bullet holes during the attack.
