The incident occurred at approximately 7:15 a.m. on Tuesday, 5 May 2026, at Paraíso Park, located in the San Blas district of the Spanish capital. The victim, identified only by his initials D.O., was reportedly stabbed twice in the chest during the confrontation.

According to eyewitness accounts, an argument broke out between the victim and a 38-year-old Moroccan man, who allegedly drew a knife and attacked him. The suspect fled the scene immediately afterwards.

Emergency responders were quickly alerted. Officers from the National Police Corps were first to arrive and initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as the victim lay critically injured and bleeding heavily.

Paramedics from SAMUR-Protección Civil soon joined efforts to revive the young man. Despite sustained attempts lasting around 30 minutes, medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.

Madrid Emergencies confirmed that the attack took place in the park along Alberique Street.

Witnesses at the scene reportedly identified the suspect with certainty, describing him as a homeless individual known in the area and allegedly struggling with drug use.

The suspect was apprehended roughly an hour later on Emilio Ferrari Street, a short distance from the scene. Although he was found with blood on his clothing, the weapon used in the attack had not been recovered at the time of his arrest.

Police investigations are ongoing.
