Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a 35-year-old Kano-based businesswoman, Rabi Muhammad, at the Seme land border in Lagos for attempting to smuggle drugs concealed in a fake pregnancy.
She was intercepted on Monday, 16 February 2026, while trying to cross into Cotonou, Benin Republic. Her protruding stomach aroused suspicion, prompting officers to conduct a search, which revealed that she was not pregnant.
Investigators discovered that her “baby bump” was fabricated using a pink-coloured calabash strapped to her abdomen. Concealed inside were 3,200 capsules of tramadol, which authorities said she intended to sell in Cotonou.
