Nigeria’s First Lady, Remi Tinubu Donates 100,000 Exercise Books To Lagos Schools

Wife of the President, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, on Wednesday, donated 100,000 exercise books to pupils of public primary and junior secondary schools in Lagos state as part of her Renewed Hope Initiative Education Support Programme.

The books were presented on her behald by the wife of the Lagos State Governor, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu.

Sanwo-Olu handed over the books to the state government at the Banquet Hall, Alausa, Ikeja on Wednesday.

She said, “It gives me great pleasure to welcome you all to the official handover of 100,000 copies of the Renewed Hope initiative exercise books for public primary school pupils and junior secondary school students in Lagos State, championed by the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and National Chairman of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON.

“I bring you warm greetings from Her Excellency, and in line with her resolve to use education as a critical tool to enhance our national development and given its importance in the personal growth of the younger generation, the Renewed Hope Initiative, under its Education Support Programme, has donated and handed over 100,000 copies of exercise books to the Lagos State Government through my humble self, First Lady of Lagos and RHI State Coordinator, in a bid to support the learning needs of students in Lagos State.

“No doubt, her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, believes that educating a child is of tremendous personal benefit to society at large. Education enables children to realise their full potential to think, ask questions, and judge independently. Ultimately, education empowers them to take control of their lives, their families, and their future.”

Sanwo-Olu said the gesture would enhance the academic performance of the Lagos State students to achieve the “Millennium Development Goals, especially as they pertain directly to education, which lowers the illiteracy rate.”

“Therefore, let me encourage our younger generation present here and across that you can become whatever you desire to be in life. Whatever you can conceive, you can achieve, provided you are truly determined to pay the price,” she said.
