Nigeria’s Vice President, Shettima Loses Step Mother At 69

Vice President Kashim Shettima, in the early hours of Thursday, lost his stepmother, Hajja Hauwa Abba Kormi.

This was disclosed in a statement by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha.

Nkwocha said Hajja Kormi died after a prolonged illness at the age of 69, left behind five children, many stepchildren and grandchildren.

She was buried at Shettimari, Lawan Bukar, Maiduguri, Borno State.

“May the Almighty Allah forgive her shortcomings and admit her to Jannatul Firdaus,” the statement read.

Shettima served as the governor of Borno State from 2011 to 2019.

In the 2023 presidential elections, he served as President Bola Tinubu’s running mate. Their victory led them to assume power on May 29, 2023.
