Ooni Loses Elder brother, Prince Ogunwusi

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has announced the death of his immediate elder brother, Prince Adetunji Ogunwusi, paying glowing tribute to a man he described as a distinguished entrepreneur, devoted family member and compassionate humanitarian.

The monarch announced the passing of the prince in a statement issued on Sunday by the Director of Media and Public Affairs at the Ooni’s Palace, Sodiq Lawal.

According to the statement, Prince Adetunji’s death has left an immeasurable void within the Ogunwusi family, the revered Ojaja Royal Dynasty and the entire Ile-Ife Kingdom.

Born on 8 December 1967, Prince Adetunji was a member of the Ojaja lineage of the Giesi Ruling House in Ile-Ife and served as the Group Chairman of Primewaterview Holdings, where he earned widespread respect for his leadership and entrepreneurial vision.

Reflecting on his brother’s life, the Ooni described him as a trusted confidant whose unwavering commitment to family, business and humanity earned him the admiration of many.

“Today, the entire royal family mourns not only a brother and son but also a trusted confidant, a dependable pillar of our family and a man whose life reflected honour, dignity and uncommon compassion,” the monarch said.

He added that Prince Adetunji’s entrepreneurial drive, dedication to family values and genuine concern for the welfare of others would remain an enduring source of inspiration.

“His unwavering dedication to family values, his entrepreneurial spirit and his genuine love for humanity will forever remain a source of inspiration to us all,” he said.

The monarch noted that, beyond his achievements in the corporate world, his late brother quietly touched countless lives through acts of generosity, wise counsel and selfless service, often choosing to make a difference without seeking public recognition.

According to the Ooni, Prince Adetunji consistently upheld the cherished values of the Ojaja Royal Family through his humility, integrity and commitment to the progress of society.

Extending his condolences to members of the Ogunwusi family, the people of Ile-Ife and all those mourning the prince’s passing, the monarch urged them to find comfort in the remarkable legacy he leaves behind.

“Though his earthly journey has come to an end, his footprints on the sands of time can never be erased. The Ogunwusis are comforted by the fact that Prince Adetunji lived a fulfilled life dedicated to God, family, enterprise and humanity.

“May the Almighty Olodumare give us all the strength to bear this painful loss,” the Ooni prayed.

He also offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the late prince’s soul and for divine comfort for his immediate family, friends, business associates and everyone whose life he touched.

Prince Adetunji Ogunwusi is remembered as a respected businessman, a committed philanthropist and a quiet force within the royal family whose legacy of service and compassion will continue to resonate within and beyond the ancient kingdom of Ile-Ife.
