Osun 2026: Four APC Members Allegedly Shot In Ilesa Ahead Of Governorship Poll

At least four members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, have reportedly been shot in Ilesa, Osun State, amid rising tension ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

According to a report, the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday while APC supporters were preparing for a campaign rally in the city.

The attackers were alleged to be thugs working with the Accord Party, which is supporting the re-election bid of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

The condition of those reportedly shot was not immediately known as of the time of filing the report.

The latest incident comes days after another alleged shooting during an APC campaign procession in Ilesa West.

The APC campaign council had accused the Chief Whip of the Osun State House of Assembly, Wale Akerele, and operatives of the Amotekun Corps of opening fire on members of the party during the procession.

The party alleged that several of its supporters sustained injuries, while four people were reportedly shot, including a 12-year-old boy identified as Oluwatobi Ilesanmi.

The boy was reportedly inside his mother’s shop when gunshots were fired during the campaign activity.

The alleged shooting subsequently triggered protests in parts of Ilesa, with residents demanding an investigation into the incident.

However, the allegations contained in the latest report have not been independently verified, and it was not immediately clear whether the alleged attackers were acting on behalf of the Accord Party.

The development has further heightened concerns over security ahead of the August 15 Osun State governorship election, with political parties trading accusations of violence and intimidation.

Authorities are expected to investigate the incidents and ensure that voters, candidates and supporters can participate in the election without fear of violence.
