Osun Election: Davido, Sowore Fight Dirty Over Adeleke’s Leadership, Political Record

Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, and African Action Congress presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore have exchanged heated words over Governor Ademola Adeleke as Osun State goes to the polls today.

The social media confrontation began after Sowore launched a scathing attack on Adeleke, who is Davido’s uncle, questioning the governor’s competence and criticising the state of infrastructure in Osogbo, the state capital.

Sowore described Adeleke as “brainless” and said he had “nothing upstairs”, while also portraying Osogbo as a “war zone” with inadequate infrastructure.

Davido subsequently responded on X, formerly Twitter, describing Sowore as “Arindin”, a Yoruba expression used to refer to a foolish or unintelligent person.

The exchange escalated when Sowore turned his criticism towards Adeleke’s political record and the wider Adeleke family.

The AAC presidential candidate questioned Adeleke’s decision to support President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election and alleged that the family regarded Osun State as a “private estate”.

Sowore also accused the family of being “oppressive, corrupt, incompetent, and entitled”, allegations contained in his response to Davido.

“The real arindin is your uncle, @AAdeleke_01, who had to go back and obtain the equivalent of a GED after he had already served as a Nigerian Senator,” Sowore wrote.

He further criticised Adeleke’s support for Tinubu, alleging that the decision was driven by political loyalty and personal interests.

“The real arindin is your uncle who chose @officialABAT as his presidential candidate, apparently hoping that imbecilic political loyalty would allow your family to continue treating Osun state as a private estate to finance your extravagant lifestyle,” he stated.

Sowore subsequently extended the criticism to the Adeleke family, accusing its members of benefiting from what he described as the hardship faced by Nigerians.

“All of you are the same anyway, oppressive, corrupt, incompetent, and entitled spoilt brats, feeding off the pain, suffering, and sorrow of Nigerians. But the tables will turn. The Nigerian people will not endure this forever,” he added.

The public exchange comes on the day Osun voters are scheduled to elect their governor, with Adeleke seeking to retain the governorship against other candidates, including the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.
