P square Drama: Jude Okoye Fires Back at Peter Okoye, Denies Royalty Diversion Allegations

The long-running rift within the Okoye family has taken another turn after Jude Okoye publicly responded to a series of allegations made by his younger brother and former P-Square bandmate, Peter Okoye.

In a lengthy video titled Debunking the Lies, Jude rejected several of Peter’s claims, insisting that many of the issues had already been investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and are currently the subject of ongoing court proceedings.

Responding to Peter’s allegation that he and Paul Okoye diverted about $25,000 in royalty payments, Jude said the transaction was carried out in line with instructions Peter personally issued in 2016.

According to him, an email from digital music distributor Iroko showed that Peter requested his own share of the royalties to be paid directly into his personal account, while the remaining balance belonging to Jude and Paul was paid into the Northside Entertainment account.

Jude also dismissed Peter’s claim that he was removed as a signatory to the company’s bank accounts. Displaying what he described as the official bank mandate during the video, he maintained that Peter remained a signatory to all P-Square accounts and said the same documents had already been tendered before the court.

He further refuted Peter’s allegation that it took more than three months to release backend records relating to P-Square’s music catalogue. Jude stated that Peter requested the records in October 2022 and received them within six days. He added that download logs showed the files were accessed on the very day they were delivered.

Addressing another allegation that Peter had only recently begun receiving royalty payments in US dollars, Jude presented what he claimed were historical payment records indicating that Peter had been paid in dollars since 2012.

He also rejected Peter’s assertion that more than $1.2 million in royalties had been diverted, insisting that all royalty payments and distributions were properly documented and shared in accordance with existing agreements between the parties.

Jude accused his brother of attempting to sway public opinion through social media while the dispute remains before the courts. He stressed that, aside from correcting what he described as misleading claims, he would refrain from discussing matters that are still the subject of ongoing legal proceedings.

The latest exchange further underscores the deepening fallout between the Okoye brothers, whose dispute over finances, music royalties and business management has remained in the public spotlight despite ongoing legal proceedings.
