PDP Governorship Aspirant, Emmanuel Fayose Blast His Elder Brother, Ayo Fayose For Endorsing APC In Ekiti

The governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Emmanuel Fayose, has publicly criticised his elder brother, Ayodele Fayose, for endorsing the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Governor Biodun Oyebanji ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

Emmanuel, in a strongly worded statement, condemned the former governor Ayodele’s endorsement of the APC governor, describing it as an act of betrayal against the PDP.

“I urge Ayodele Fayose to leave the PDP if he has nothing to contribute to the repositioning of the party and restoring it to its pride of place, rather than ridiculing himself in the public space,” the younger Fayose stated.

He further remarked, “My elder brother, former Governor Ayo Fayose, benefitted immensely from the PDP and governed the state twice on the party’s platform.”

“His recent endorsement of Governor Oyebanji amounts to a total betrayal of the PDP.”

The aspirant expressed dismay over what he described as a “charade” put up by some political leaders in Ekiti State, including former governors, in endorsing the incumbent governor.

“While acknowledging that the former governor has the right to take any political stance he deems fit, I am utterly disgusted that he had to drag the PDP into his show of shame.”

“How could someone who benefitted so greatly from the PDP now be seen undermining the same party in such a brazen and shameful manner? This does not reflect the Fayose ethos of Omoluabi in any way,” he said.

He described the endorsement as a “show of shame”, according to Emmanuel, the event, despite featuring former governors, defectors, and a rented crowd, failed to attract significant public support.

He said the turnout was “far less than 10,000 people out of Ekiti’s three million population,” which, he argued, “clearly shows the people are tired of the APC administration in the state.”

Recall that former Ayodele Fayose, endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term.

This is even as he endorsed the Ekiti State governor, Biodun Oyebanji, and his deputy for a second term.

“I hereby endorse publicly without reservation, President Bola Tinubu for a second term. I also endorse our governor, Biodun Oyebanji, and his deputy for a second term.”

While speaking at a campaign programme, Fayose stated that while he had endorsed Tinubu, he could never join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He said this while adorning the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) cap at the event.

“Let me equally say this gathering is a unique gathering because all the former governors of this state, the leaders of this state, the national assembly members of this state, all the people that matters, unanimously, including myself support.”

“I am not a member of his party and I will never be.”
