Police Arrest 20-Year-Old Man For Stabbing Emir Sanusi’s Guard To Death During Eid Prayers

The Nigeria Police Force, Kano State Command, has announced the arrest of a 20-year-old man who allegedly stabbed to death the guard of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II at the Eid ground.

According to a police report, the young man attacked the officer while he was on duty, protecting the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, following the Eid prayers on Sunday.

Another security officer was reported injured and is currently receiving treatment at Murtala Muhammad Hospital in Kano city.

The police spokesperson in the state, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, confirmed the arrest and stated that a palace official, ‘Shamakin Kano’ Wada Isyaku, had also been invited for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.

Kiyawa added, “The police have commenced an investigation into the incident and have invited the Kano Emirate’s Shamakin Kano, Alhaji Wada Isyaku, for questioning.”

On Friday, the police announced a ban on the traditional Sallah procession in the state as Emir Sanusi II and Aminu Ado Bayero continue to claim the throne of Emir of Kano.
