Put God First Even After Success – Singer Davido Advises Upcoming Artistes

Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has encouraged aspiring musicians to remain steadfast in their faith, warning that fame and success can easily become distractions if they lose sight of God.

Speaking during a recent interview with Kiss Xtra, the award-winning singer said that while talent, hard work and self-belief are crucial ingredients for success, maintaining a close relationship with God is equally important throughout an artiste’s career.

Davido’s remarks come at a time when several high-profile entertainers, particularly those from Christian backgrounds, have publicly admitted that they no longer attend church after attaining fame.

Reflecting on his own journey, the singer urged upcoming artistes to believe in their abilities and remain dedicated to improving their craft.

“My advice for up-and-coming artistes is, first of all, believe in yourself. I worked on my craft so much. I loved music so much that I just wanted to get better every time. When I was young, I was learning from YouTube and the people around me,” he said.

He also cautioned young musicians against allowing success to weaken their faith.

“Secondly, love what you do and put God first and close, especially when you make it because there are so many distractions that can make you forget He is the reason you are here,” Davido added.

The singer’s message highlights the importance of balancing ambition with humility, encouraging emerging artistes to remain focused on both personal growth and their spiritual values as they pursue success in the highly competitive music industry.
