Report Any Loan App Harassing You Over Unpaid Loans – FCCPC Tells Nigerians

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has issued a strong warning to loan apps and businesses that harass or intimidate Nigerians over unpaid debts.

In a bid to safeguard consumers, the commission has urged Nigerians to promptly report any form of harassment or intimidation by such lenders. This directive follows rising complaints about aggressive debt recovery tactics, including threatening phone calls, text messages, and public shaming on social media.

Reaffirming its stance, the FCCPC stressed that “no consumer should live in fear” and assured Nigerians that it remains committed to protecting them from unfair and deceptive practices. It also warned loan apps and businesses that continued harassment will attract serious sanctions.

The commission further encouraged Nigerians to channel complaints through its official website and social media platforms, assuring that swift action will be taken against offenders.
